A Sad Yet Important Note From Piratech -- The rename of Piratech Kraken to Piratech Tsunami

Ahoy pirates, we have some important news to share - one that began with a challenge but has led us to a new chapter in our journey.
On the first morning of Blade Show this year, we were notified by a company in Georgia claiming they hold a trademark for the name KRAKEN, a term deeply tied to mythology and our beloved knife model. In the letter, we were asked to remove all products related to Kraken because we allegedly violated their rights.
We checked on USPTO and found it unbelievable that Kraken can be trademarked while it is the name of a mythological creature widely used all over the world.
While this was unexpected, we have always believed in turning obstacles into opportunities. After careful consideration, we decided to rename our signature knife: Tsunami!
Why Tsunami? The name carries special meaning for Piratech. Last year, after Piratech’s first Blade Show, our founders Damon and Kay visited the Georgia Aquarium with their friend, where they met a mischievous octopus named Tsunami. This clever creature seemed to bond with Kay, playfully following her and appearing only when called—a moment so memorable it felt destined to inspire us. With this incident happened, we decided to name our signature knife Tsunami in memory of the one we met.
The Role of Tsunami in Piratech? As you may know, Piratech was founded by a team of modern pirates that love seeking different all over the world. "Tsunami" embodies the spirit of Piratech: relentless, powerful, and unyielding. Just as pirates navigate stormy seas, we face challenges head-on, emerging stronger.
This case had us sit down and thought about our brand and products carefully. Piratech will embrace its second anniversary on July 1 2025. It was, it is and it will always be time for us and you to seek different. In the path of seeking different, the joy of new experience, new challenges and new knowledge follows.
Last but not least, we firmly believe that our products will speak for our brand.
